While an interesting concept, as state in the op, it's hard to fathom how such a list could be accurately generated and maintained. There are many web sites that don't have !G ads, so that's not a clear indicator, and most web sites don't divulge when they are not listed by !G.

Page design in always a tough thing, what works for one is not good for another. There are many factors that need to be taken into consideration, not the least of which is accommodating those with vision issues (color blindness, etc.).

On thing that you'll notice that that (with default settings), when you mouse over a standard search result (non-ad), the background changes to light blue, which does not happen when you mouse over an ad.

Also, please remember that when you report irrelevant results it helps the entire DDG community.

Thanks.

Do you get the same results from a Private Tab or after emptying the browser cache?

I don't use IE, so I hadn't installed the DDG search until just now, testing what you've reported. I followed the instructions and allowed DDG to be added as a search engine, then selected DDG as my default search engine and it worked as described, total time was <1 minute.

After doing this, DDG won't be listed among your programs, it is just available as a search engine and can be set to be your default search engine for IE.

I would like to suggest that when the home page is the means of access to DDG, there be some way deleting the invitation to install DDG. It doesn't hurt anything to leave it up, it is just a tiny bit of clutter that needn't be there.
Use https://start.duckduckgo.com as your home page.
