> When is DuckDuckGo going public?

Haha,  you need like 100M+ regular revenues for that, so I doubt any time soon.

> Why aren't VCs investing in it, yet?  You hear about search engines that start and raise huge amounts of funding.

Because I've never sought any funding. Yes, many have raised lots of money, but it hasn't gotten them very far. In fact, it may have accelerated their downfall (or perhaps they go hand in hand--not sure). In any case, the reason is there isn't a great way to buy users so the only reason to raise is to buy headcount, and I don't need that at the moment when you weigh it against all the problems with raising money (distraction, loss of control, etc.).

> Can DuckDuckGo be the first search engine that doesn't raise venture funding and grow to be a large search engine?

I hope so!

Yeah, I think this is good, but the first step is enabling accounts in some way. Once I have that set up, then settings (including custom bangs) could be saved. Right now they wash away with your cookies, which is fine for settings, but not for stuff you spend more time to do like custom bangs.

The iPhone one is in beta: http://ye.gg/ddgip

The BlackBerry one is nearing alpha.

The Android one is stalled. I had someone working on it who fell through, and then another who fell through. If anyone is interested, let me know.

It does work pretty good on mobile already, but the native apps add a lot. If you check out the iPhone one, you'll see what I mean.

I presume ctrl-click is working for you and you'd like shift-click to the same thing?
a reply to a comment on the General Rambling What's the difference between a Web 2.0 Search engine and a Web 3.0 Search Engine, and is DuckDuckGo a Web 3.0 Search Engine? 7 years and 10 months ago
I don't know :)

I've added a bunch of comments to the style.css file in the repository. I hope this makes things easier!

I take the points about "iding" more things and dropping in-line CSS, but it seemed better not to drastically change things atm. So if there are particular things you want me to edit, i.e. interface elements you want to style, just let me know and I'll work on it.

List of * pages are of a different breed and I specifically ignore them for now, though I hope to come back to them at some point.

I tried to clear all the color profiles and believe I did such, but if the colors look weird you need to set the document to RGB and then make sure the proof setup is set to monitor RGB.
